The Lover singer, 30, thrilled fans as she announced she's set to headline Glastonbury 2020's Sunday slot for the festival's 50th anniversary. The Glastonbury Sunday Legend is one of the most prestigious slots in the festival calendar. Take one veteran performer, stick them on the Pyramid Stage late on Sunday afternoon and watch them.

Taylor Swift will perform at Glastonbury for the first time next year as the world-famous music festival marks its 50th anniversary.

The US pop star will be the headline act on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday evening, it has been confirmed.

Earlier that same day - 28 June - Diana Ross will be on the same stage, playing the legends teatime slot.

Singer-songwriter Swift, who recently turned 30, tweeted: 'I'm ecstatic to tell you that I'll be headlining Glastonbury on its 50th anniversary - See you there!'

Festival organiser Emily Eavis responded: 'Taylor! Yes!'

Her father, festival organiser Michael Eavis, said in a video posted on Twitter: 'I'm so pleased to announce that Taylor Swift is going to be headlining the Sunday at Glastonbury.

'She's one of the biggest stars in the world and she's young and she's a fantastic American girl, and it's going to be beautiful, and her songs are absolutely fantastic.

'We're so delighted.'

Sir Paul McCartney has already been confirmed as the headline act on the Pyramid Stage for the Saturday evening slot in Pilton, Somerset.

For the former Beatles star, Glastonbury 2020 will be his first time at the festival since he headlined in 2004, alongside Oasis and Muse.

But it is not yet known who will be the top act there on the Friday.

Last month, Emily Eavis said the Friday and Sunday headliners would be a man and a woman.

US rapper Kendrick Lamar is one name that has been mentioned for Friday.

Eavis has also said next year's headliners for the Other Stage, the festival's second biggest stage, will also be 'Pyramid level' to ensure the 50th celebrations make the festival one to remember.

All 135,00 tickets for Glastonbury 2020 sold out in just over half an hour after they went on sale, organisers said.
